Alistair Martin McMillan OBE

Alistair is an experienced entrepreneur, who founded and ran his own publishing and advertising management business (consumer and business journals and periodicals) from 1973 to his retirement in 2005.


As well as being a successful business leader, Alistair has also taken on a wide range of public appointments, including Vice President of East Cheshire Hospice, Chairman of local East Cheshire branch of NSPCC, Chairman of North West Region of the NSPCC Full Stop Appeal (the FSA) and the founding board of Cheshire Community Foundation.


Since 1996, he has been an active member of the Halle Concerts Society in Manchester, being appointed a Board Member, Deputy Chairman and, since September 2016, Joint Vice President of the Society.


In 2014, Alistair became Chair of the National Garden Scheme, which is UK’s largest charitable benefactor in the nursing and caring sector. He was awarded the OBE in 2012 for charitable services to the North West.
