The late Professor Aidan Halligan
The Well North Programme is the inspiration of the late Professor Aidan Halligan who, sadly, died suddenly in April 2015 just as the programme implementation was beginning.
He worked tirelessly to launch this exciting and innovative programme to improve health and well-being in some of our most deprived communities.
Aidan was an amazing person to work alongside, full of enthusiasm and energy and we will miss his insight, dedication and generous spirit. The whole Well North team is absolutely determined to make our blueprint for successfully tackling health inequalities a fitting legacy to a man who will be deeply missed.

Remembering an inspirational colleague
"The healthcare system is populated by bright, dedicated, well-intentioned people. Now is the time to surface that talent in meaningful leadership positions across the NHS and, together with smart processes and enabling technology, allow the best mediocre healthcare service in the world to become truly the very best".
