Michael Brodie
Finance and Commercial Director for Public Health England
I’m the Finance and Commercial Director for Public Health England (PHE), part of the Department of Health, which is charged with protecting and improving the health of the nation.
I’m responsible for PHE’s £3.5 billion budget and for leading the finance, commercial, technology and estates functions.
I’m also President of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) in the North East and serve as a Governor for the Ashington Learning Partnership.
My experience covers a wide range of roles across the public sector, including senior finance positions in local government, the police service and the NHS. At Well North my role includes ensuring that funding provided by PHE is spent effectively and accountably.
A keen sports enthusiast, I coached the Great Britain junior Inline Roller Hockey team at the European Championships in 1999, having previously been a successful player myself .
